Health insurance deadline is Monday, resources to help

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Massachusetts residents have just four days left to get their health insurance coverage in place for the new year. Western Mass News stopped by a health enrollment center in Springfield to see how they’re doing their part to make sure everyone has affordable coverage.

For those still in need of health insurance coverage heading into the new year, you better act quick as the deadline for open enrollment ends Monday, December 23rd.  There’s no need to worry just yet though, because there are options available for those still needing to apply.

Members of the Massachusetts Health Connector in Springfield and local officials came together Thursday morning to discuss insurance coverage opportunities available through their health care programs.

Massachusetts requires everyone in the Commonwealth to carry health insurance or they could face a state tax penalty, so if you or someone you know is still in need of health insurance, now is the time to enroll in a plan; not only for your peace of mind, but to avoid any costly fees in the future.

Right now, there are currently more than 344,000 people enrolled in the Health Connector health insurance plan, most of which also qualify for their ConnectorCare program, which makes coverage even more affordable through lower premiums and co-pays and eliminates deductibles and prescription costs for chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension.

The income eligibility limits for the program 2025 plans at $75,300 for an individual and $156,000 for a family of four.

For those interested in applying, you can call the health insurance customer service line. They will also be providing extended hours to help anyone in need of their services get on the right track.

Once again, anyone in need of health insurance coverage for the new cycle starting January 1st of 2025, the deadline is this coming Monday, December 23rd.
