Tennessee Titans coach Brian Callahan says he expects to carry two kickers on the active roster on Sunday and that veteran Nick Folk will be a game-time decision.

Rookie Brayden Narveson will likely be elevated as the Titans test whether Folk (abdomen) can go. Narveson kicked for the Titans during the preseason and was signed to the Green Bay Packers’ active roster for the first six weeks of the season, making 12 of 17 field goal attempts and all 16 of his extra point tries.

Folk has been the NFL’s most accurate kicker this season. He’s 21-for-22 on field goals and 25-for-25 on extra points, and he’s made three kicks from 50 yards or longer in two separate games.
“We’ll have the insurance policy in place. However we can maneuver the roster for that stuff. But we’ll have Brayden ready to roll if we need him,” Callahan said. “He’s kicked in games. It’ll be good to have him up if we need him to be.”

The only player Callahan ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts (noon, CBS) when speaking to media Friday was linebacker Luke Gifford, who didn’t clear the concussion protocol. Linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. is expected to be listed as questionable and, like Folk, should be a game-time decision.
Titans injury updates on L’Jarius Sneed, Jaelyn Duncan, Colton Dowell
- Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed’s season is likely over, per Callahan. The high-priced cornerback only played in five games for the Titans this season. He initially went out with a quad bruise that had him listed as day-to-day, but later testing showed the injury unfurling into a strain that lingered and landed him on injured reserve. He’d be eligible to come off injured reserve as of this week, but Callahan says the “very strange and very significant” nature of the injury means Sneed likely won’t return to health until the Titans begin their offseason regimen.
- The plan is for the Titans to elevate second-year tackle Jaelyn Duncan off injured reserve in time for the team’s Week 17 game in Jacksonville. Duncan has been on IR since injuring his hamstring in Week 7 against Buffalo. Callahan said he’d like to see Duncan play if possible when he returns but didn’t indicate whether that meant as a starter or as a rotational reserve.
- Callahan said he was pleased with what he saw from receiver Colton Dowell this week. Dowell practiced for the first time since tearing his ACL last December. The plan is to take things slow with Dowell and it’s unlikely he’ll be activated this season. If he is, it’ll only be for the last game of the season. But Callahan said it’s a great sign that he’s getting to see Dowell on the field and reward him for the 12 months of work he put into the rehab room. Dowell, for what it’s worth, told The Tennessean he felt better on Friday after the week of practice than he did on Monday before it began.
