A deal reached Monday afternoon will prevent any disruptions in care for some patients of Ohio State University’s medical facilities.
Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center announced the multi-year deal Monday afternoon with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
The deal allows more than 110,000 people to continue to receive care through Ohio State University’s medical facilities, including the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, at in-network rates.
A previous deal between the insurance company and the medical facility had been set to expire at the end of the year.

In a statement, Ohio State said no deal was reached for Anthem Medicare Advantage network patients, meaning those patients will lose in-network coverage benefits beginning Wednesday. Patients who want to continue care at Ohio State and can switch to another Medicare Advantage plan during an open enrollment period that begins on Wednesday.
About 11,000 central Ohioans use the plan that will be terminated effective Wednesday, according to data previously provided to The Dispatch by Anthem.
Those who have canceled or rescheduled appointments due to concerns over the potential of a deal between the medical system and Anthem not being reached in time should reschedule online or contact the patient information line at 614-293-8000.
